How it works

One motor. Three ways to control it.

A small motor sits inside the headrail in place of the usual cord or chain mechanism. Send it a signal from the app, a remote, or a voice assistant, and it lifts or lowers the fabric to an exact, repeatable position — no tugging, no re-aligning, no cords for anyone to find.

No looped chains, ever

The motor replaces the chain entirely, so there's nothing dangling for young children or pets to reach.

Set it and forget it

Schedule the blind to rise at a set time each morning or drop for a film night, without lifting a finger.

Whisper-quiet, battery powered

A rechargeable battery in the headrail runs for months between charges. No mains wiring, no electrician needed.

Why choose smart

Built for control, not just looks

Everything that makes a motorised Roman blind different from a manual one, in one place.

App control

The Bluetooth app connects directly to the motor — no bridge, no account, no cloud dependency for day-to-day use.

Handheld remote

Choose a 1, 5, or 15-channel remote to group blinds by room, with unlimited blinds held on each channel.

Voice & smart home

Add a Wi-Fi bridge and the blind joins Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Home for voice commands and routines.

Stops exactly where set

The motor holds a precise position every time, so paired blinds in the same room always line up.

Rechargeable, not wired

A built-in battery recharges via USB-C every few months. No mains cable, no chasing walls, no electrician.

Cord-free by design

No looped chain at any point in the mechanism, meeting current child safety guidance without an add-on cleat.

Control options

Operate it however suits you

Every smart Roman blind comes with three ways to control it, and you're not locked into just one.

Remote control

Pick a 1, 5, or 15-channel remote to run single blinds or whole rooms. Each channel holds an unlimited number of blinds, so a single button press can close every blind in the house.

App control

Connect over Bluetooth for instant control and no cloud dependency, or add a Wi-Fi bridge for control from anywhere and custom timers, like a cinema mode for movie nights.

Smart home & voice

With the Wi-Fi bridge fitted, ask Alexa or Google Assistant to open or close your blinds, or fold them into an existing "good morning" routine.

Fabric & lining options

The motor is hidden — the fabric is the star

Choose any Roman fabric and lining from the standard range. The motor sits inside the headrail, so it doesn't limit your options.

Blackout

Blackout lining

Blocks the vast majority of light. Bedrooms still see a thin line at the frame edges, which is normal for any Roman blind.

Filtering

Light-filtering lining

Softens direct sun while keeping the room bright. A popular middle ground for living rooms and kitchens.

Natural

Natural weaves

Linens and cottons with visible texture. Best paired with a standard lining rather than blackout, to keep the weave's character.

Pattern

Patterned fabric

Prints and geometrics from the full Roman range, all compatible with the motorised headrail.

Headrail finish

The motor housing, matched to your room

The headrail casing that holds the motor comes in a small range of finishes, so it disappears against your window rather than standing out.

Where it works best

Rooms and situations built for smart control

Smart Roman blinds earn their keep in a handful of specific situations.

01

Bedrooms with a morning routine

Set a wake-up timer so the blind lifts gradually with natural light, rather than an alarm doing all the work.

02

Home offices on video calls

Adjust light and glare from your desk without leaving your seat, mid-meeting.

03

High or awkward windows

Motorisation removes the need for a long pole or step ladder on windows that are hard to reach by hand.

04

Rented homes

Battery power means no rewiring and no permission needed from a landlord for electrical work.

05

Households with children or pets

Removing the chain entirely takes away a strangulation hazard that standard cleats only partly manage.

06

Holiday or second homes

Scheduled operation makes an empty property look lived in while you're away.

FAQ

Smart Roman Blinds, answered

The questions we're asked most at survey.

How long does the battery last?

Typically several months of normal use before it needs a recharge, depending on how often the blind is operated. A low-battery warning shows in the app well before it runs out, and recharging takes a few hours via USB-C.

Do I need Wi-Fi to control it?

No. The Bluetooth app and handheld remote both work without any Wi-Fi or bridge, and without any cloud account. A Wi-Fi bridge is only needed for control away from home or for voice assistants like Alexa and Google Home.

Will it work with Alexa or Google Home?

Yes, once a Wi-Fi bridge is fitted. Without the bridge, the blind still works fully via Bluetooth app and remote, just not by voice.

Can I retrofit motorisation to an existing Roman blind?

In most cases we'd recommend a new headrail rather than converting an old one, since the motor and fabric fixing need to be built in together. We'll assess your existing blind at survey and advise honestly either way.

How much more does a smart version cost than a manual one?

There's a premium over a manual chain-operated Roman blind to cover the motor and battery. We'll give you both prices at your free survey so you can compare directly, with no pressure either way.

Is it actually child-safe?

The motor removes the looped chain entirely, which is the main strangulation risk with corded blinds. There's still a base bar and fabric, so normal supervision around young children still applies as it would with any window covering.

What happens if the battery dies while I'm away?

The blind simply stays in its last position until it's recharged. It won't get stuck fully open or closed, and there's no need to rush home to fix it.

Can one remote control multiple blinds?

Yes. A single channel on a multi-channel remote can hold an unlimited number of blinds, so one button press can operate every blind on that channel at once, room by room or all together.
