What the motor actually changes
A motorised tube isn't just a gadget bolted onto a roller blind. Here's what it changes day to day.

You barely hear it run. It's quiet enough for a bedroom blind at 6am without waking anyone, which is where cheaper motors usually fall down.
No looped chain, genuinely child safe
The control mechanism is designed without a looped chain, removing the strangulation risk that safety devices on ordinary blinds only reduce, not eliminate.
Battery or mains wired, your choice
Rechargeable battery motors suit most rooms and need charging every few months. Mains-wired suits blinds used constantly, like an office or a shopfront.
Group blinds by room or channel
A 1, 5 or 15-channel remote (sold separately) lets you group any number of blinds together, so one press moves a whole room or floor at once.
The chain still works, always

Do smart roller blinds need Wi-Fi to work?
No, not for basic operation. The pull chain and the Bluetooth app both work without any internet connection, over the blind's own local signal. Wi-Fi is only needed if you want voice control through Alexa or Google Home, and that requires the optional bridge.
Is Bluetooth control private?
Yes. The Bluetooth app connects straight to the motor with no bridge, no registration and no cloud service involved, so there's nothing being sent off to a server just to open or close a blind.
How long does the battery last?
It depends on how often the blind is used, but most rechargeable motors go three to six months between charges on a typical daily-use blind. Charging takes a few hours via USB and doesn't require removing the blind from the window.
Can existing roller blinds be retrofitted with a motor?
Sometimes, but not always cleanly. We generally recommend building the motor into a new blind from the start, since retrofit kits vary in fit and finish. We'll assess your existing blinds honestly at survey rather than push an upgrade that won't sit well.
What's the Wi-Fi bridge and do I need one?
The bridge connects your blinds to your home Wi-Fi, which unlocks Amazon Alexa or Google Home and control from outside the house. If you're happy with Bluetooth app and pull-chain control at home, you don't need one.
What happens if the battery dies or Wi-Fi drops out?
The pull chain still operates the blind directly, since it doesn't rely on Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or the app. Nothing gets stuck in the wrong position because a signal was lost.
Is it actually child safe?
The chain is a single, non-looped design rather than a continuous loop, which removes the strangulation hazard at the source rather than relying on a separate safety clip fitted afterwards.
Do I need an electrician to have it fitted?
Battery motors need no wiring at all. Mains-wired motors need a nearby power source, and if one isn't already in place we'll arrange the electrical work as part of the fitting rather than leave you to sort it separately.
