A motor, a rail, and your existing curtains
The motor sits inside the track itself, not bolted to the wall as a separate box. A row of gliders clipped to the rail pulls the fabric open or shut when the motor turns. No visible wiring, no bulky housing hanging off the pole.
Most tracks run on battery packs that last months between charges, though a mains-wired version is available where you'd rather not think about batteries at all. Either way, the curtains still open by hand if the power ever cuts out.

Use whichever suits the moment. A handheld remote for guests, the app for scheduling, Alexa or Google Home for hands-free.

Handheld remote
A single remote controls one curtain or a whole house of them, grouped by room. No pairing faff, no app required. Ideal for anyone who'd rather press a button than open a phone.
App control
Set schedules, name each curtain by room, and build scenes like "movie night" that dim lights and close curtains together. Works over Bluetooth in most homes, or Wi-Fi with a bridge for control away from the house.
Smart home & voice
Connect through the Wi-Fi bridge and your curtains join Alexa, Google Home, or Apple Home. "Alexa, open the lounge curtains" works exactly as you'd expect.
All scheduling and timer data is stored locally on the motor itself, so your curtains still run to schedule even without an internet connection.

Blackout lining
Heavy, fully lined fabric for bedrooms. Blocks the bulk of light, though some edge glow is normal around the frame.
Heavyweight velvet
Dense and structured, holds its fold well on a motorised track. A popular choice for living rooms and bay windows.
Sheer voile
Light enough for a second track layered behind heavier curtains, so you can automate privacy without losing daylight.
Textured linen
Mid-weight and lightly textured. Runs smoothly on the track without the bulk of velvet, good for larger windows.
The track disappears above the fabric
Choose a finish that matches your fittings, or go with white to blend into the ceiling line.

Can you motorise curtains I already own?
In most cases, yes. At survey we check the weight and heading type of your existing curtains against the track's weight limit. Very heavy interlined curtains occasionally need a stronger motor, which we'd flag and price before any work starts.
Do I need Wi-Fi for the curtains to work?
No. The motor and remote pair directly over Bluetooth, so basic open and close control works with no internet at all. Wi-Fi only comes into play if you want voice control or app access when you're away from home, which requires an additional bridge.
How long does the battery last?
Typically three to six months of normal daily use, depending on curtain weight and how often the track runs. The app warns you when the battery's getting low, and recharging takes a few hours. A mains-wired version is available if you'd rather not charge anything.
Is it loud when the curtains open?
No. The DC motors we fit run quietly enough that most people don't hear them over normal room noise. It's not silent, but it's far from the grinding whir some older motorised systems are known for.
What happens if there's a power cut?
Battery-powered tracks are unaffected by a power cut. Mains-wired versions will stop responding to remote or app commands until power returns, but the curtains can still be pulled open by hand in the meantime.
Can one remote control curtains in different rooms?
Yes. Multi-channel remotes let you group curtains by room, so one button might close every curtain downstairs while another only controls the bedroom. We'll set this up on install day based on how you actually use the house.
Will it work with Alexa or Google Home?
Yes, once connected through the Wi-Fi bridge. Without the bridge, the curtains still work fine on remote and Bluetooth app control, but voice commands need that extra step.
How long does fitting take?
Most single-window installs take under an hour, including pairing the remote and setting up the app. Larger bay windows or multi-room installs take longer, and we'll give you a realistic estimate at survey rather than a vague one.
