How to measure your windows

For an initial estimate, measure the width and drop where you expect each blind or shutter to fit. Curtains are the exception and are measured on the track, which the third card explains. Every window is measured properly at the appointment, so these do not have to be exact.

Width

Measure horizontally from left to right. For a recess, take measurements near the top, middle and bottom and use the smallest.

Drop

Measure vertically from top to bottom. For a recess, take measurements at the left, centre and right and use the smallest.

Curtains

On a curtain row the width is the track or pole, end to end, not the window. A track usually runs 15 to 20cm past the glass each side. The drop is from the track, or from the eye of the ring on a pole, down to where you want them to finish: the sill, just below it, or the floor.
